Within the scope of the "Planning and Design Study for the Layout and Sizes of Istanbul's Marinas and Boat Berthing", the following studies were undertaken on coastal structures used by light marine vessels (yachts, commercial boats for tourism, fishing boats) within the Istanbul district boundaries.
- Creating an inventory of the conditions and capacities of existing facilities for mooring and sheltering marine vessels. Transferring these to the GIS environment.
- Creating an inventory of the locations and capacities of existing and planned facilities for mooring and sheltering of other marine vessels operating on the shores of Istanbul (shelters for sea taxis and marine firefighting vessels, fuel stations, billage and waste reception areas, pontoons, floating scoops, bunker shelters, shelters for shore safety and shore security boats, marine police shelters, shipyards and boat maintenance and repair areas, tugboat shelters, trustee ports, IDO and city line ferry piers), and transferring these to the GIS environment.
- Documenting any facilities planned by public and private institutions and organizations to which the marine vessels operating on the shores of Istanbul are connected.
- Establishing a base for a master plan to coordinate any existing and planned investments of public and private institutions and organizations that operate on the shores of Istanbul.
- Investment planning and budgeting of new facilities (marines, boat mooring areas, boat parking areas and fishermen's shelters) for mooring and sheltering of light marine vessels (yachts, touristic commercial boats and fishing boats) that will be constructed by the Authority.
- Creating a plan for income generation by directing the boats that are currently mooring irregularly and without control to the new modern, comfortable, safe, sheltered moorings and facilities.
