In 2018 Yüksel Proje celebrated the 40. anniversary of it’s foundation, and has crowned it’s 40 year long success with a project of great social responsibility.
Starting with the idea of creating an engineering complex at METU at which students can study under better conditions, and supported by their own personnel most of whom graduated from METU, Yüksel Proje executed this project.
The Lecture Hall which was given by Yüksel Proje’s to METU as a gift, is the first project donated to the campus.
METU Yüksel Proje Lecture Hall offers 4 lecture theatres, 2 of which have a capacity of 250 students, and furthermore 17 classrooms. The shared central space onto which all lecture theatres and classrooms open, is integrated with the outdoor space and acts as a meeting, interaction and socialising area. METU Yüksel Proje Lecture Hall hosted its first students in spring 2019.
The architectural language of Yüksel Proje Lecture Hall designed by Çırakoğlu Architecture is in harmony with that of the METU Campus. It has many characteristics such as the use of building materials like concrete and brick in their bare state and strong landscaping elements. It is an environment which gives priority to pedestrian life.
In it’s design the objective was to built a structure that maintains the character of it’s environment but brings contemporary architecture into dialogue with those buildings built before it; a design that not only provides similarities in material and appearance but also reinterpretes the approach used in other campus buildings in terms of texture, spacial quality and utilization of common spaces.
