Early period Ottoman structure from the 16. century
Restoration and landscaping
The project involves the restoration and landscaping design of Sehzade mosque, an early period Ottoman structure from the 16th century, regarded as one of Architect Sinan’s “apprenticeship” works
During the research into it’s history, alongside old documents and photographs information was gathered from different archives on past repair work undertaken on the mosque. Free-hand drawings, photographs taken by drone, laser scanning, analysis of materials, geo-radar studies and dynamic tests were carried out as part of the documenting process.
Any structural damage, deterioration in the materials and former repairs were mapped on the survey drawings. The restitution design was prepared for two periods. Conservation and structural intervention methods were established on the grounds of the findings, and the restoration design was prepared. Expert consultants of all disciplines took part in the work.
