The Cluj-Napoca Metro Project holds significant importance as it will be the city's first metro line upon successful completion. The project aims to enhance public transportation with a 21.03 km light underground metro line, 19 underground stations, and 1 depot area. The metro line features a 28 km TBM tunnel and a 3.5 km C&C box tunnel, passing through the central part of the city. Some stations are located in protected areas.
The project scope includes all civil works, architectural works, E&M (electrical and mechanical) works, track works, and systems such as signaling, power supply, telecom, SCADA, and PSD. Construction work has commenced, with design and supervision works running concurrently with the construction phase.
Design services are provided by Yüksel Proje-Prota JV.
Design and Construction Approach:
The project adopts a respectful attitude in both design and construction, with a high level of aesthetic concern to ensure that design solutions are in harmony with the city’s architectural identity. The project seeks design solutions that are appreciated by various stakeholders involved in project approval procedures while fulfilling technical requirements and complying with both local and international standards. This process requires intensive collaboration with different Public Authorities simultaneously.
