130.000 m3/day capacity
Within the framework of IPA financing provided by the European Union, Erzurum's existing clean water network was improved, creek rehabilitation undertaken, and wastewater collectors and a wastewater treatment facility of 130.000 m3/day capacity was constructed.
The aim of the project was to provide Erzurum with a wastewater management system, thereby reducing the pollution of the river Karasu, and to achieve EU and Turkey standards in the discharge of wastewater. The wastewater and rainwater collection systems were improved and it was ensured that Erzurum's potable water, rain water and wastewater systems function more effectively.
After network requirements were determined, the necessary wastewater treatment and collectors were planned and the project was created. Technical support in the international construction tender was provided to the administration and construction processes were initiated.
The project covers the supervision of the entire design and manufacturing of the facility, including construction, reinforced concrete, electrical and mechanical processes (Design and Built-FIDIC Yellow Book), with the construction of a 24.8 km long wastewater network, 6.2 km of wastewater collectors, 2.2 km of box culvert rainwater drainage and creek rehabilitation, 2.47 km long pressurized wastewater line, and the supervision of design and construction of one wastewater pump station.
Furthermore, with feasibility studies of the potable water network design for the whole of Erzurum district centre, the preparation of the bid files (FIDIC Red Book), studies to determine lost or unbilled water, and training, the institutional capacity of Erzurum's water and sewage administration was improved.
