The objective of the project is to transport the natural gas produced in Azerbaijan to Turkiye and thereafter to Europe. TANAP joins the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) and Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) forming the South Natural Gas Corridor.
The project alignment starts at the North-East border of Turkey (Turkgozu/Posof) and ends at the Greek border. Its total length is approximately 1850 km, 19 km of which is the Marmara Sea crossing.
The nominal capacity of the pipeline is 31 billion m2, the design pressure 96 bars and the diameter of the pipe 56 and 42 inches.
Compressors, measuring valves, pig valves, block valves and gas exit stations have been constructed as a part of this project.
