Cendere Viaduct is a part of the 3 Deck Great Istanbul Tunnel project’s motorway section. The main aim of the project is to design a structure which due to its function addresses speed and dynamism. An innovative, authentic and symbolic design was created that can be perceived by car passengers and outside viewers as reflecting Istanbul’s dynamism and speed.
The viaduct is located in a rapidly developing area, over Kagithane Creek, and runs parallel to the TEM Highway. It’s illumination system was designed in line with the main theme of the project and includes changing lights with colour transitions.
In the A’design Awards and Competition which is one of the most prestigious global design competitions with 100 different categories, the Cendere Viaduct project received the bronze award in category ‘Architecture, Building and Structure Design’. And in the “The Architecture MasterPrize (AMP)” competition where the best architectural designs are selected, the Cendere Viaduct project was chosen as one of the best 3 studies in the category of transport.
