Inventory and examination of 7,786 (5.150.000 m2) bridges through observation
Examination of 706 (450.000 m2) bridges by equipment
Regardless of the number of spans, any bridge whose effective span between the abutments is 10 m or more has been included in the inventory.
For the purpose of the inventory, information on the bridge was gathered on site. First an observational examination was conducted. Bridges whose level of damage was established to be between 2.5 and 4 underwent a further examination by equipment.
Subsequently the information, documents and results were submitted to the Authority in the form of a report and recorded in the “Bridge Management Program”.
The project was divided into 2 parts: site work and office work. The site work consisted of the observation and examination parts, the office work of the preparation of lists, forms and the transfer of information.
7,786 bridges, most of these of reinforce concrete, were scanned under the project, their concrete cover and penetration resistance were measured, and the information obtained was entered into the Bridge Management Program.
