Halkali-Kapikule Railway, Ispartakule-Cerkezkoy Section

Halkalı-Kapıkule Railway is one of the largest infrastructure projects to be realized within the framework of the financial cooperation between Turkiye and the European Union. Ispartakule-Cerkezkoy is 67 km section (Phase 2) of this project that will connect the European Railway line to the local network (Marmaray).

Environmental and Social Action Plan, Environmental and Social Management Plan, Resettlement Action Plan, Emergency Response Framework, Biodiversity Management Plan, Railway Safety Plan and Stakeholder Engagement Plan have been prepared within the scope of the project.

According to these plans, measures include:

  • Special design-based interventions to mitigate risks such as bird collisions, reorganization of the lost forest areas and vegetation, noise prevention, and material selection strategies aimed at reducing greenhouse gases,
  • Efforts to minimize the number of people affected by expropriation and to mitigate impacts,
  • Development of Occupational Health and Safety Plans,
  • Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure the protection of employees' rights, a gender equality plan, and new promotional activities to attract female engineering students to internship programs are among the initiatives undertaken.
