390 km
A design speed of 350 km/h
Double track, standard gauge railway
390 km long double track, standard gauge railway line connects Ankara and Istanbul – the two largest cities of Turkey – along the shortest route.
It has a design speed of 350 km/h.
There are 145 highway crossing, 43 viaducts, 10 bridges, 78 tunnels, 10 cut-cover structures, 27 overpasses, 118 underpasses, 2 stations within the scope of the project.
Railways in Turkey will gain significant volumes of traffic on the axes involved, in particular against air transport, thus contributing to the development of an efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly transport network.
The travel time between Ankara and İstanbul will be reduced to 1.5 hours with this project.
