1400 m Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge
The project is based on a Build-Operate-Transfer model and consists of three sections: Odayeri-Paşaköy, Kurtkoy-Akyazi and Kinali-Odayeri. It’s total lenght is 398 km.
The Odayeri-Pasakoy Section is 148 km long and consists of 102 km motorway and 46 km connection roads. This section contains the 1408 m long Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge (bridges of this length are numbered in the world), 2 tunnels with a total length of 2389 m, 35 viaducts of 13.5 km length, 1 ecological bridge and outdoor structures of varying sizes and length.
The Kurtkoy-Akyazı section consists of 122 km 2x4 lane motorway and 48 km connection roads. It has a total length of 170 km. The section contains 5 2x4 tunnels, 16 viaducts, 90 bridges, other outdoor structures and 3 maintenance operation centres.
The Kinali-Odayeri section is 80 km long and consists of 70 km motorway and 10 km connection roads. It contains 3 2x4 tunnels, 14 viaducts, 37 bridges, 1 maintenance operation centre and other outdoor structures.
When all the sections of the Northern Marmara Motorway are completed it will join the Istanbul-Izmir Motorway which connects the Marmara region, Aegean region and Central Anatolian regions, making it easier to reach various destinations.
With a section area of 228 m² the 4 lane Riva and Camlik tunnels are the widest motorway tunnels in Europe. For this reason the excavation and retaining work was completed in 6 different stages. The tunnels are equipped with an Automatic Detection System to provide safety for the road inside the tunnel, the driver and the tunnel.
